Four-Node Motif Count Lite

Problem

Count induced four-node paths P4 in an undirected graph with n nodes.

A P4 is a set of four nodes that induces exactly a path of length three: the induced degrees must sort to [1, 1, 2, 2] and there must be exactly three induced edges. edges is a list of [u, v] pairs.

Hint

The induced edge count and degree sequence together pin down the P4 shape.
